Senior Taylor Stair has been a part of the Walkersville community for all of her life. She participates in many school activities and enjoys being a part of this small town. Stair found her passion for volleyball when she came to high school and has loved it ever since.

Stair participates in Senior Class Club, Student Government Association, and played on the lacrosse team for a year. “I love that everyone knows each other and we are pretty close in terms of sports and coming together and supporting each other,” said Stair.

Stair started out playing her freshman year where she knew nothing about volleyball. Her sophomore year she made the varsity team and was able to gain a lot more experience even though their team record didn’t show it. “I still got to play the game everyday and I was content with just that,” said Stair.

Stair joined a club team named  Frederick Volleyball Club which helped her to keep playing throughout the year and to maintain and better her skills. It allowed her to gain experience with other types of volleyball players and expand her understanding of the game.

Her senior year was challenging for the team. “We had a height disadvantage to many other teams which didn’t help us and we were less experienced,” said Stair. It was also bittersweet to be able to finish her high school career with the same teammates she started and grew with.

Being a student athlete is a lot harder than you think. Students have to be able to manage their school work and make time for studying while the team is coming home late from an away game. “It taught me time management and to make more time for my studies,” said Stair.

After high school Stair plans to attend a four year college and likes to spend her free time sleeping.
